            <p>A friend forwarded <a href="http://www.bignewsday.com/story.asp?code=BZ345203T&amp;news=yo_being_used_as_gender-neutral_pronoun">this link </a>to me for an article about a new use for the word &#39;yo.&#39; After reading it I wondered whether this new usage would be considered polysemous to the previous &#39;accepted&#39; usages, or if it&#39;s tantamount to creating an entirely new meaning for the word or creating a homonym. Its previous usage has been either as an interjection or, as I have heard and used it, as pronoun of a sort used in places where &#39;dude&#39; and &#39;man&#39; have been used.</p>
